What It Means to have a Personal Relationship with Jesus

A - Romans 3:23 - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

B - John 3:16 -  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

C - Romans 10:9 - because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 

Admit you are a sinner

Believe Jesus died and rose again to pay for your sins 

Confess that Jesus is Lord and Savior

That's it, that is all that is required.  Jesus' path for us to have a relationship with Him was never meant to be difficult or ritualistic, but a genuine desire to follow Christ.

Prayer example:  Jesus does not care about the words as he does the sincerity and condition of the heart.  Below is an example prayer.  Pray from your heart.

Dear Heavenly Father,
I admit I am a sinner and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe Your Son, Jesus, died for my sins and rose again. I choose to turn from my sins and ask Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart and change my life. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name, Amen.  

What is different now?

• You were cleansed from sin & made right with God
• You experienced a changed heart & life.
• Your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life
• Christ (the Holy Spirit) is living inside you

After being saved, it is important to share this news to strengthen your faith and connect with a community of believers. Who is the first person you can think of that you would like to share the great news with?  Make a list,, share it freely and often!  Tell a pastor, mentor, or fellow Christian about your decision to follow Jesus, as they can provide guidance, encouragement, and arrange for baptism, which is the first step of obedience.
